Cassie Phillips was born and raised in Ohio, until finally escaping to Chicago in September of 2009.
With a background in photography, the self-taught painter had only completed
a handful of paintings before her move. Upon her arrival in Chicago, inspiration
struck and the formation of her style and technique began to take shape.
Cassie works mostly with oils on wood depicting images that often serve as
an emotional outlet. The women in her work represent somewhat of an alter
ego as they embody a direct sense of how she is feeling at a given time.
